The "Tailor Your Behavior"
Parenting Enhancement Program
Parenting can be challenging. There are many opinions. Like dieting, a widely shared enthusiasm for something, especially one that is short-lived and without basis in the object's qualities, may momentarily inspire or sound reasonable but are not very effective. Fortunately, techniques have been researched and developed to make parenting much easier. The techniques are useful tools for handling problems and building habits for desired age appropriate behavior. Dr. Thomas Gross has studied the child rearing techniques for close to two decades and has bridged many gaps in parenting management skills to help parents. The "Tailor Your Behavior Method” widely shared enthusiasm among families and educators alike. These Method don't only change parenting behavior, but can also reduce stress at home, often made worse by reminders, nagging, noncompliance, and routine behaviors that often occur in family life.
The Two Fold Process Of Tailor Your Behavior For Children, Teenagers and Adults.
1. Parenting Framework On Effective Behavior Modification.
T. Train The Brain (Education, Consultation and Collaboration)
A. Advocate Reinforcement (Positive).
I. Initiative (Modeled By Parents).
L. Listen (Active Listening), Lead and Let Lead - Empower!
O. Operational - Furnish Behavior Plans To Budge The Impulsive.
R. Radical Acceptance - Moving Forward, Builds Resilience.
Key to implementing a better home is the continuity of moving forward, not getting stuck in negative energy/negative reinforcement (lengthy arguments, past memories of undesired behavior, reprimanding, etc.); rather focus remaining on the positive track.
Once the "TYB" model is in place there is minimal guided maintenance, where client self-evaluation begins to indicate mastery acquisition.
2. Framework For Building Children and Teenager Resilience
T. Train The Brain - Education and Guided Discovery Of Effective Communication. Implement Social Skills Training If Necessary.
A. Active Listening, Child Advocates (within reason) For What Works (Tentatively Combined With Family Sessions).
I. Initiate Trial & Error Reflective Of Good Behavior Skills. Expecting Turbulence During This Phase Is The Norm Pending Intensity Of The Child's Personality / Emotions.
L. Lead and Let Lead. Empower!
O. Operational - Model & Role Play, Negotiating A Working Behavior Plan. Remember Relapse Is Part Of The Recovery Process (We Help The Child / Teenager Stay Focused).
R. Roll With Resistance - Teaching Resilience / Radical Acceptance Skills. The Focus Should Be On Clear Rules To Create A Safer Place For Consequences (not reprimanding!).
Build / Furnish A Token Economy and Maintain The Positive Energy.
